Friends of the National Arts Centre Orchestra (FNACO)is a not for profit organization which supports the NAC Orchestra and their music education initiatives. Founded at the same time as the Orchestra in 1969, Friends have been connecting music and people ever since.
Our membership is a diverse and dynamic group of enthusiasts who share a passion for music and a desire to encourage Ottawa’s young musical talents.
While financially supporting young musicians, many of whom are aiming for an orchestral position, we also provide awards and donations to young people’s music programmes and organizations within the Ottawa area.
We raise funds through our social events such as Embassy Chamber concerts which are arranged with many wonderful Embassy Ambassadors who support our goals.
The Universities of Ottawa and Carleton each receive an award for a fourth year student chosen for musical excellence and leadership in the community.
Other awards are given to the prestigious NACO Bursary competition and to the Kiwanis Festival.
Financial contributions are given yearly to the Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy, the Young String Performers’ Foundation and to OrKidstra.
We invite you to join us and share in our appreciation of Canada’s iconic orchestra. With your membership in FNACO you also have the opportunity to attend selected free orchestra rehearsals, receive our quarterly Con Brio newsletter and attend our fund raising Embassy concerts and dinners at a reduced price.
Several events are coming up in the New Year.
Please consider joining us for $40 a year for under age 65 and over 65 for $35
